The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has rejoiced with Muslims in the state on the commencement of the new Islamic calendar , Hijrah 1446 A.H.
The Emir in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, described the Muharram as the 1st Islamic month which shows Allah’s blessings on His creatures.
He noted that : “with the commencement of another year, Muslim Ummah in Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State at large should remain steadfast in prayers and appreciation to Allah in spite of all odds.
“Hijrah represents so many things in the lives of Muslims globally especially in the history of the lifetimes of the noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had to emigrate from Makkah to Madinah in 622 C.E. after he exhausted his patience with the Makkah pagans who were persecuting him. ”
While praying for Almighty Allah to grant the Ummah the opportunity of this celebration many years ahead, the Emir congratulates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for witnessing another Islamic year on earth.
Meanwhile, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Sunday, called on Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to emulate the teachings of Hijrah, the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Makkah to Medina.
The governor made the charge during the 2024 Hijrah celebration (1446AH) organized by the Hijrah Islamic Organisation in Ilorin, the state capital.
Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by his Senior Adviser, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, encouraged Muslims to reflect the lessons of Hijrah in their interactions with both Muslims and non-Muslims.
He urged them to take the opportunity to visit the sick, support family members in distress, and demonstrate kindness to one another.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to listening to the public and adjusting policies to meet their needs.
He acknowledged that while some government decisions might seem tough, they are made in the best interest of society.
AbdulRazaq also appealed to Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration in delivering on its renewed hope agenda.
In his sermon, Sheikh AbdulMumin Ayara, the National Missioner of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, criticized the arbitrary increase in food prices and other commodities by traders under the pretext of inflation and exchange rates.
He urged traders to fear Allah and warned that they would be held accountable for their actions in the hereafter.
Sheikh Habeebulahi El-Ilorin, representing Mudirul Markaz, supported Ayara’s views.
Earlier, the chairman of the Hijrah Islamic Organisation, Professor Badmas Yusuf, called on the government to encourage foreign investment and implement policies focused on diversifying the economy.
