Hijrah 1445AH : Muslims Urged To Migrate From Lawnessness To Law Abiding Citizens, Ensure Even Spread Of Wealth

Lokoja – Muslims in the country have been charged to migrate from lawlessness to law abiding citizens at all times and in all places they find themselves.

Sheikh Salman Adam, Chairman, Council of Ulama’u (COU), Kogi State chapter, made the charge in Lokoja on Saturday in an address he delivered at an event to commemorate the new Islamic year, Hijrah 1445AH.

The Chairman, who reminded the gathering of the essence of the annual hijrah celebration also stressed the need for Muslims to promote equality and justice for all, shun greed, and ensure proper and even distribution of wealth.

Adam, whose speech was read by Justice Suleiman Olorunfemi, a retired Grand Khadi of Kogi State further appealed to Muslims to use the opportunity of the new Islamic year to renew their faith and commitment to righteousness.

According to him, the new Hijrah year should be seen as a continous positive movement in all aspects of life, be it personal or public.

He also enjoined Muslims to intensify prayers for good, responsible and responsive leadership in the country.

“You are also enjoined to supplicate intensely that Allah should keep Nigerians together irrespective of ethnic, political and religious backgrounds,” he said.

Adam, who is also the Chief Imam of Ankpa, commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his continuous support to all religious groups in the state .

He was also full of praises for the governor for ensuring that the state is safe and secured at all times.

The Chairman of the event, Alhaji Abubakar Ejibunu , said the significance of the annual hijrah celebrations was to remind Muslims of the persecution, deprivations, sufferings and untold hardships faced by early generations of Muslims when Islam was proclaimed by Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

Ejibunu, who us also the Chief Imam of Kabba called on Muslims to take full advantage of freedom of worship they are now enjoying to promote peace, justice, fairness and equity in the society.

The Chairman , appealed to President Bola Tinubu and state governors to make governance more comfortable for the people by providing succour in the face of the current excruciating poverty.

The Guest Speaker at the event, Sheikh Muhammadu Muhammadu Bello urged muslims to regularly carry out self assessment and evaluation of their behaviour and other activities.

He said this is necessary to enable them know where they are failing in their service to the Almighty Allah and humanity and make necessary adjustment.

“Know Yourselves to know Allah and come to terms with your weaknesses so that you can work on them and gain closeness to Allah

“Self awareness is necessary for a successful life, practice faithfulness always,” he admonished.

Bello who is also the Chief Registrar, Kogi State Sharia Court of Appeal enjoined Muslims to imbibe righteousness and adhere to specific principles of life.

The Lecturer said Muslims should not be shocked about the turn of events in Nigeria and other parts of the World if they are conversant with the Holy Quran.

Bello explained said the Holy Quran made it clear that four signs will start manifesting when the world is coming to an end.

He said the four signs are that God will take away blessing away from the surface of the earth, take away sympathy and mercy from the heart of leaders, take away fairness and justice from rulers and judges and take away happiness from the people.

However, Bello, saud that it is not too late for leaders and followers to make amends by retracing their steps back to the Almighty Allah and by totally submitting to Him .

The Hijrah 1445AH celebration also featured the launch of new islamic year calendar, march past by various islamic groups and schools.
