The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has condemned the brutal killings in Yelewata and Daudu communities of Guma Local Government Area in Benue State, describing the attack as an assault on human dignity and a threat to peace.
In a statement signed by its Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Forum expressed deep condolences to the Government and people of Benue State, especially to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, over the tragic incident that claimed several lives.
“What happened in Guma is a heartbreaking tragedy that must be condemned in the strongest terms.
“It is a painful reminder of the urgency to work together in addressing the security challenges facing our nation,” AbdulRazaq said.
The NGF pledged its support to the Benue State Government and assured that governors across the country stand in solidarity with the affected communities and will support efforts to restore peace.
“We pray for the peaceful repose of the victims, healing for the injured, and strength for the survivors.
“We also urge all Nigerians, regardless of background or belief, to reject violence and embrace peace and justice,” the Forum added.
The attack in Guma has drawn national concern, with calls for greater collaboration among security agencies and state governments to stem the tide of violence across Nigeria.
