Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has dissolved the state Executive Council.
Alia announced the dissolution at the close of the 12th (2025) meeting of the Benue State Executive Council held on Wednesday.
He, however, said the dissolution only affects Commissioners while other political appointees continue to retain their positions.
Alia directed the former Commissioners to handover to the Permanent Secretaries of their Ministries as soon as possible.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, who confirmed this in a statement said the governor thanked the former Commissioners who worked with him for two years.
The governor called on those who may not be called back or reappointed to stay in the party and continue to liaise with the system as they are only paving way for other citizens who may be chosen to replace them to also contribute their quota.
Kula said the governor also appointed a former two term Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Barr. Moses Atagher as new his Chief of Staff.
Atagher, was also former acting Managing Director, Federal Mortgage Bank.
His appointment takes immediate effect.
Speaking on behalf of the former Commissioners, Barr. Bemsen Mnyim appreciates the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the state.
“At every stage in life, everywhere you are called to serve is a school.
“We have learnt a lot while working with you,” he said.
