The Chairman, Benue Stare Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Hon. James Ivever has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for restoring the Commission’s mandate to it’s original form.
Ivever said that the primary functions of the commission which was in the past misled has been repositioned under his stewardship.
The chairman spoke at a special thanksgiving service organized in his honour and the Principal Special Assistant (PSA) on community engagement and Mobilization; Hon Richard Atera by Mbaiwo Community of Kastina Ala Local government.
He noted that, the core mandate of the commission which covers employment, training and appointment of principal functionalities of local government, DGSAs, treasurers and Heads of departments which in the past was hijacked by some stakeholders had been restored with the backing and support of Governor Hycianth Alia.
Recall that the autonomy of local governments was a campaign promise of Governor Alia, which he quickly delivered on resumption of office.
This has engendered more development at the local level and enhancing effective service delivery in the commission.
Ivever said, his task is to strengthen the collaboration between the state and local governments, work as a team, and support in all areas that will bring massive benefit to the people.
He appreciated the state government’s support and non-interference which has enabled the Commission perform optimally as seen in the recent appointment of local functionaries.
The Chairman emphasized on more training and development of staff at the third tier of government where discipline and compliance with the service rules take centre stage.
Rep. Solomon Wombo, Member, representing Katsina Ala, Ukum and Logo federal Constituency, thanked the governor for finding many sons and daughters of his constituency worthy of appointment in his administration.
He also commended the governor for aligning with the federal government on the state’s needs.
Hon. Wombo stressed the for peace to ensure progress and development of Sankera area, adding that more deliberations are ongoing at the federal level to curb in security in the affected areas.
The Chairman of Chairmen of all Local government Service commission in Nigeria, Mohammed Bawa thanked Governor Alia for the massive reforms in the state and local government commissions.

He tasked all heads of the commission to ensure close monitoring and evaluation of duties to compliment the governor’s effort for a better state and service delivery for workers.
Hon. Peter Ipusu, member representing Katsina Ala West in the Benue House of Assembly encouraged the youth to support the Alia led administration by keying into his youth empowerment programmes.
The Chairman Kastina-Ala Local ocal Government and host, Hon. Justin Shaku called for peace in Tongov.
He re-afirmed the need to key into the peace initiative which was made possible by Governor Alia, urging his subjects to shun violence.
Also Lady Scholastica Lyam, Commissioner I, in the the LGSC sued for peace in Benue State to make the state become great again.
She called for prayers and full support from the masses to ensure the governor succeeded and for masses gained more.
The thanksgiving mass which was held at St. Michael’s Quasi Parish Amaafu had Rev. Fr. Richard Iyaghigba delivering a sermon in which he called on Benue people to support and stand for truth always for a better state and country.
