Ekiti University Dismisses 13 Staff For Indiscipline, Sexual Misconduct

The Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, has sacked 13 of its staff members for various offences of indiscipline, sexual misconduct and dereliction of duty.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joseph B. Ayachi announced this on Tuesday during a press conference in Ado Ekiti

According to him, nine of the affected staff were sacked for “indiscipline and impunity,” while three were dismissed for abandoning their duty posts.

He also said one staff member was sacked for sexual misconduct.

Additionally, Ayachi said 21 staff members received warnings for various offences, while three were barred from holding positions of responsibility for three years.

Army School Graduates 390 Personnel In Specialised Logistics Courses

During the press conference which was held to herald the 29th convocation ceremony of the university, the Vice Chancellor said 16,446 graduates will receive their diplomas and degrees.

200 of the students will graduate with first-class honors, he said.

Ayachi emphasized the university’s commitment to upholding academic excellence and discipline.

He also used the press conference to announce the promotion of 16 junior non-teaching staff, 209 senior non-teaching staff, and several academic staff members to higher ranks.

The convocation ceremony is slated for March 29, 2025.

The university will also confer honorary doctorate degrees on some individuals,including Senate Leader,Opeyemi Bamidele and FIRS Chairman, Dr. Zach Adedeji.
