The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to celebrate thus year’s Eid-ul-Mawlud.
The day is set aside to celebrate the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced the public holiday in a statement in Abuja.
The statement quoted the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as extendinh heartfelt greetings to all Muslims in Nigeria and around the globe on the occasion of the celebration.
Tunji -Ojo urged the Muslim community to emulate the Prophet’s principles of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, emphasizing that these ideals are essential for fostering a united and progressive nation.
The minister also encouraged Nigerians of all beliefs to utilize the holiday to pray for the peace, security, and stability of the nation.
He urged them to continue to support governmental initiatives aimed at national cohesion and sustainable development.
“The observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid presents us with another chance to strengthen the ties of brotherhood, advocate for peaceful coexistence, and embrace the Prophet’s teachings of mutual respect and selfless service to humanity,” he said.
He additionally urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant regarding security, and supportive of government policies designed to enhance the welfare of all Nigerians, while wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
