Abuja – The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 7, and Monday, April 10, 2023 as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration.
This was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the ministry of interior.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Shuaib Belgore signed the statement.
In the statement, the Minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola charged Christians to emulate the good virtues of Jesus .
He said Jesus demonstrated selflessness, unity, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience, urging Nigerian Christians to key into these virtues.
Aregbesola also urged Nigerians, irrespective of religion to use the holiday period to pray for an end to the security issues that still exist in some areas of the nation.
“Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry,” he said.
The minister also assured that the Federal Government is doing all that is necessary to ensure a peaceful transition of government following the peaceful conduct of elections. (vitalnewsngr.com)
