A development consultant and Behavioural Change Specialist, Dr. Baba Abdul Bala, has awarded the Ogba Merit Award 2025, for distinguishing himself in the area of community service.
The award was conferred on him by Ogba Community Development Union, Bassa Local Government, Kogi State.
Bala, the Chief Executive Officer of Starex Consults Global Services Ltd and MCBENZ Global Consults, was conferred with the distinguished community service award (Dcsa) for contributing to youth and sport development in Ogba Community, Bassa local Government and Kogi State in general.
He was honoured for organising several youth training programmes that benefit youths in the community and, as a trainer, consultant and Philanthropist who had played remarkable role in the ogba community rebirth project.
At the award presentation ceremony, was held on December 27th, 2035, at NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja.
Speaking st the event, the President-General of Ogba Community Development Union (O. C. D. U. NIGERIA), Dr Ishaq Dan-Imam, described Dr. Abdul Bala as a skilled and knowledgeable social and behavioral change specialist with over 15 years of experience.
According to the O. C. D. U. President-General, Dr. Abdul Bala is the sponsor of the annual Bassa Peace Football Tournament, aimed at fostering and consolidating the Bassa peace process, geared towards bringing lasting peace to Bassa local Government area, after several years of hostilities.

Ogba Community Development Union president said for this and other community development initiatives championed by Dr. Baba Abdul Bala in Ogba Community, the recipient deserved the honour and recognition of Ogba Community, as a development partner, community leader and visionary youth advocate in Nigeria.
He stressed the resolve of Ogba Community union to continue to recognise individuals and organisations that make impact on society, community governance, and development through personal development initiatives.
“As a Young leader who is incredibly self-motivated and committed to making a significant and lasting difference in youth development, community governance and institutional development in Nigeria and globally, Dr. Bala as a highly successful trainer and facilitator with exceptional interpersonal and human relation skills, and management expertise, had implemented challenging Social and Behavioural Change programs, with System Strengthening Sessions, Strategic Planning Sessions.
“And general capacity building programs on organizational development, youth mentorship and development, which had stimulated incisive youth development in entrepreneurship, institutional and organizational development as well as skills acquisition in various communities and public institutions across Nigeria, African, Europe and UAE, where he had undertaken groundbreaking business innovation and business development trainings for several organisations.
“Dr Baba Abdul Bala is excellent in organizing, guiding, and administering a wide range of topics and course designs.
“His facilitation techniques are innovative, engaging, and powerful as the CEO of Starex Global Consults and McBenz Global Consult,” he said.
The recipient, Dr Baba Abdul Bala is a training consultant with the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency, National Identity Management Commission, Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministries of Water Resources, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, National Judicial Institute, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, National Space Research and development Agency and several other government and nongovernmental bodies.
He Holds Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies, BSc in Sociology, MSc in Human Resource Management and PhD in International Relations and Diplomacy.
