Court Remands Kogi Man In Prison For Sodomizing His Two Biological Sons

Police in Kogi State have arraigned a middle -aged man, Dan Sokoto Shaibu, before a Magistrate Court in Lokoja for allegedly sodomizing his two biological sons.

Shaibu was accused of indulging in sexual intercourse with his 17 and 11-year-old sons in their house contrary to Section 292 of the Kogi State Administration of Criminal Justice.

The police prosecutor, Barrister G.O. Otowu, gave details of the offence before the court presided over by Memunat Abdullai.

The Prosecutor who is also the officer in legal and prosecution, Kogi State Police Command, told the judge that the court has the jurisdiction to hear case.

He said his exparte motion is supported by a 7 – paragraph affidavit and Form 8 which is the request for remand as required by the law.

He added that the application for remand will enable the police carry out thorough investigation.

The accused person, Dan Sokoko Shaibu pleaded guilty to the charge, saying that he committed the crime under the influence of alcohol.

“I was under the influence of an alcoholic drink. I took three bottles of beer on the night the incident happened. I regret my action,” he pleaded.

He also confessed he got married to four wives out which three of them had divorced him and lost one to the cold hands of death.

In her ruling trial judge, Mrs Memunat Abdullahi stated that having perused the exparte motion and the affidavit attached, granted the application and remanded the accused in the Federal Correctional Centre at Koton Karfi for 14 days.

The case was then adjourned to September 9th, 2024 for hearing.
