Kogi Council Of Ulama’u Appeals To Nigerians To Shun Protest

The Kogi State branch, Council of Ulama’u of Nigeria (COU) has congratulated Governor Ahmad Usman Ododo on his recent victory at the Supreme Court.

The council in a statement by its Administrative Secretary, Alhaji Idris Babango also felicitated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the entire people of the state over the governor’s victory at the Supreme Court.

The statement said the affirmation of Ododo by the apex court as the duly elected Executive Governor of Kogi State came as a relief to people, saying focus has now been shifted to development.

“With this joyous result, Council heartily congratulates him for the affirmation of his being the duly elected Governor of the State, as demonstrated by the good people of the State in the November 11, 2023 election” the statement said.

The council called on all the people of the state at all levels to give the “Governor unprecedented cooperation and unalloyed support in his desire to carry the State to the highest level of progress, development, peace, harmony and peaceful co-existence.

COMMUNIQUE PRESENTED AT THE END OF THE NATIONAL SUMMIT ON THE FUTURE OF NIGERIA’S CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY HELD FROM 16TH TO 17TH JULY, 2025 AT THE TRANSCORP HILTON HOTEL, ABUJA

“This is to enable His Excellency to harness the abundant natural resources of the state and open up numerous opportunities for the benefit of the people of Kogi State.”

The statement also enjoined the people to shun all forms of differences, build bridges of unity and harmony among the people to “actualize the good intention of His Excellency to build a sound, solid and formidable UNITED KOGI STATE, which will forever remain the undaunted pride of all Kogites.

“Also, we call on the people to contribute positively to the programmes of this government directed at surmounting the challenges confronting the progress and development of the state.”

As a spiritual body, the council said it will “continue to avail the administration of its constant spiritual support through fervent prayers for the success of this government.

“In addition, Council assures him of its firm support and cooperation throughout his tenure in office for all his developmental projects aimed at improving the condition of the people at all levels.

“It prays Almighty ALLAH to Continue to Guide and Protect him in all his activities both private and public, ameen thumma ameen.”
