A non-governmental organisation, Club 2000 has conferred an award of excellence on the Branch Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Kogi State, Alhaji Danjuma Usman .
The award was conferred on Usman at a brief ceremony in Lokoja on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, the Secretary General of Club 2000, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Adam said the award was in recognition of Usman’s excellent performance in office as the Secretary of the Red Cross Society in Kogi State.
According to Adam, the award was also to recognise Usman’s selfless service to humanity.
He said Club 2000 has watched with keen interest Usman’s giant strides and various achievements toward emancipation and development of Kogi State.
Adam specifically mentioned Kupa community, in Lokoja 11 Constituency where he said Usman and the Nigeria Red Cross Society have rendered assistances to the people who lost their fish ponds, farmlands and personal properties to flood disaster in 2022.
‘ The Award is in views, of the sacrifice you rendered and your organisation’s track record of achievements in the society. We say thank you, and God bless NRCS,” Adam said.
Club 2000 is a non- governmental, non tribal and non political organization, located in Lokoja metropolis with the aims of promoting unity and co-operation among the people.
Responding, Secretary of the Kogi State branch of the Nigeria Red Cross Society thanked the Club for the honour dine to the Red Cross Society and himself.
He said the honour simply means that the people are feeling the impact of the Red Cross Society, saying that the award is an appreciation of the good work the international humanitarian organisation is doing in Nigeria.
Usman also pleaded with wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to reach out to the needy in the society by giving them necessary assistance .
