The Bishop of the Diocese of Kwara, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Dr. Sunday Adewole, has called on Nigerians to embrace holiness, love, and unity as the nation joins Christians in celebrating Easter 2026.
Preaching at the Cathedral of Saint Barnabas, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin, Adewole described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a triumph over sin and death, urging citizens to reflect the message through righteous living and active contributions to national development.
On the theme “The Empty Tomb and Its Implications,” the bishop said Easter is more than a festive occasion but a time for spiritual reflection and commitment to God’s purpose.

“Today, as we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we appeal to everyone in the name of God to live a holy life.
Living a holy life is a precursor to God’s abundant blessings,” he said.
Adewole highlighted that personal righteousness must be accompanied by love for others and dedication to the country.
“We should love our neighbours, pray for our country, pray for our state, pray for our communities, and love others as ourselves.
“If we do this, the challenges we face will become things of the past,” he stressed.

Linking Nigeria’s socio-economic and security struggles to a decline in moral and spiritual values, the cleric said a return to the fear of God could reduce corruption, violence, and insecurity.
“If Nigerians truly embrace the fear of God, issues such as corruption, violence, banditry and insurgency will be drastically reduced,” he noted.
Adewole also warned that national progress is hindered by division, urging unity across religious and ethnic lines.
“No nation can progress in disunity. We must come together as one people if we are to confront our challenges effectively,” he said.
Acknowledging the economic hardships facing many Nigerians, he encouraged acts of compassion toward the less privileged.
“We must not wait until we are asked before helping others. Let us be intentional in offering our time, talents and resources to support those around us,” he advised.

Praying for divine intervention, the bishop expressed hope that the power of Christ’s resurrection would bring healing and transformation to Nigeria.
“It is our prayer that the power that brought Jesus out of the grave will work in our nation, in our families, and bring the needed miracles,” he said.
Adewole concluded by urging Nigerians to remain hopeful, insisting that faith, unity, and obedience to God are keys to overcoming the nation’s challenges and building a peaceful and prosperous future. (vitalnewsngr.com)
