Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State says the state’s legislative and judiciary arms of government have been granted full financial autonomy.
Alia made the announcement on Thursday through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula.
Kula who disclosed this during a press briefing in Makurdi told journalists that the decision was the outcome of the State Executive meeting held on Thursday and presided over by Governor Hyacinth Alia.
According to him, the autonomy will ensure the smooth and efficient running of government administration, as all arms of the government would become more focused and organised in moving the state forward.
He also said the meeting approved the establishment of a Benue Sub-National Fund that would be similar to the National Sovereign Fund of the Federal Government.
Kula explained that a committee had already been formed to draw up an operational framework, which would be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for it to be made law. (vitalnewsngr.com)
