Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has charged 722 intending pilgrims from the state to this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia to be good ambassadors of the state.
Bello made the charge on Sunday while addressing the intending pilgrims at the hajj camp of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.
The governor who was represented by the Senator-elect for Kogi Central senatorial district, Abubakar Ohere urged them to ensure that their actions during the hajj exercise bring honor to the state and Nigeria as a whole.
The governor reminded them that they carry the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of the entire state with them.
Bello further charged them to showcase the richness of their culture, the warmth of their people, and the unity that binds them together.
He also charged them to uphold the values and teachings of Islam – compassion, honesty, and humility, saying that
these principles should always guide their actions.
Bello congratulated the intending pilgrims to this year’s hajj, urging them them to cherish the opportunity and use it to move closer to God.
He implored them to pray fervently for the peace, development, and transformation of Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
He reminded them that prayer is a powerful tool that can bring about positive change in their lives and communities.
Bello also asked the intending pilgrims to pray for wisdom and guidance for the country’s leaders at all levels.
He expressed the hope that the pilgrimage will be a transformative experience for each and every intending pilgrim, deepening their faith, strengthening their resolve, and inspiring them to be agents of positive change.
While bidding them farewell, Bello wished them a spiritually rewarding journey to the holy land.
