Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has relieved Dr Adamu Sambo of his position as the state’s Commissioner for Health.
Mohammed , who announcement this on Monday, September 9, further explained that the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs would no longer have a commissioner.
The governor explained that the scrapping of the Ministry of Local Government waa in line Supreme Court’s ruling on local governments.
The governor disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony of three new Commissioners and the Chief Security Adviser at the Government House in Bauchi.
The newly appointed Commissioners are Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko (Bauchi LGA), Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam (Dambam LGA), Engr. Mohammed Abdulkadir (Itas Gadau LGA), and retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Ahmed Abdulrahman (Kirfi LGA).
The Oaths of Office and Allegiance were administered by Justice Umar Faruk Sarki, representing the state Chief Judge.
Governor Mohammed announced that Dambam would succeed Sambo as commissioner for Jealth.
Hajiya Takko would take over the role of Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development from Hajara Gidado, who has been elected Chairman of Itas Gadau Local Government Area.
Mohammed Abdulkadir would head the Ministry of Commerce, filling the position left by Mahmood Babamaji, who is the newly-elected Chairman of Bauchi Local Government Area.
Abdulrahman would take on the role of Chief Security Adviser, replacing Ahmed Chiroma, who left on July 16, 2024.
Mohammed explained that the reshuffle was needed to streamline government operations.
