Minna – Residents of Baare community in Niger State have been thrown into mourning following the gruesome killing of 15 of them by armed bandits.
Reports said that the bandits invaded the community in the early hours of December 9 and opened fire on worshippers observing the subuhi prayer.
Many of the worshippers were also injured during the invasion. Baare community is in Mashegu Local Government area.
The injured victims were taken to the nearby General Hospital in Kotangora for treatment while those who died have been buried according to Islamic rites.
The state Commissioner of police, Mr Bala Kuryas confirmed the bandit attack on the community, saying that not less than nine people were confirmed dead.
He said that policemen have been deployed to the village to restore peace and safeguard life and property. (vitalnews)
