The Democratic Front (TDF) has said that the morale-boosting efforts of Nigerian troops by President Bola Tinubu administration in the ongoing war against terrorism and banditry are resulting in huge success.
‎
‎In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group noted that this was despite negative narratives on insecurity by some opposition figures.
‎
‎According to TDF, this was evident in the recent arrest of 147 suspected terrorists and the rescue of 39 hostages in one week.
‎
‎It said : “The strategic adoption of kinetic and non-kinetic measures in combating insecurity in the country by the Tinubu administration has significantly turned the tide against the terrorists and bandits operating within the borders of Nigeria.
‎
‎”The increase in defence and national security budgets, the procurement of combat weapons and equipment, the training and reorientation of troops and security personnel on modern warfare, as well as the increase in salaries, emoluments, pension and severance packages for members of the Armed Forces in the last two years, have boosted the morale of armed personnel.
‎
‎”All these have also combined to ensure that the personnel doubled their readiness to make more sacrifices for lasting peace and security of Nigeria.
‎
‎”It is an acknowledged fact that the disturbing spate of internal security breaches in Borno, Yobe, Kogi, Kwara, Katsina, Zamfara, Anambra, and other axes of insecurity in the country are subsiding on account of prompt responses to security challenges by courageous Nigerian troops.
‎
‎”Indicators from the breakdown on the arrest of terrorists, bandits and kidnappers that was made recently available to the press, by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye suggests that troops are not taking terror attacks and other forms of insecurity lightly.
‎
‎”We therefore laud the efforts of officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, in collaboration with courageous members of internal security services, for a job well done on the arrest of 147 suspected terrorists and rescue of 39 hostages, in just one week.
‎
‎”The exploits of troops in recent times, as facilitated by the avowed determination of President Tinubu to utterly eliminate all threats to lives and properties in the country, deserve commendations, when viewed against the backdrop of multi-dimensional security challenges inherited from past governments.”
‎
‎TDF then urged Nigerians to continue to support the government to achieve its objectives in making Nigeria a peaceful and better place for all to live.
