The inaugural meeting of a 97 – member Local Organising Coronation Committee (LOC) set up for the coronation of the new Alaafin Oyo will hold its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Venue of the meeting is the Alaafin’s Palace, Oyo.

With the committee in place, the ancient Oyo Kingdom in Oyo State is now set for another monumental moment as preparations for the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Alaafin Oyo, Oba (Engr.) Abimbola Akeem Owoade I reach top gear.

Following the great tradition of the 1905 return of Prince Lawani Agogoja Amubieya from Ibadan to be crowned as Alaafin, this upcoming coronation promises to be an epoch-making celebration of Yoruba heritage.

To ensure a seamless and culturally befitting ceremony, a 97-member Local Organizing Coronation Committee (LOC) has been constituted under the leadership of Dr. Kunle Ogunmola, a seasoned technocrat and former INEC Commissioner.
