Ahead Arafat, Hajj Commission Starts Fresh Enlightenment For 721 Kogi Pilgrims

As the count down for the real hajj activities is fast approaching, Kogi State Hajj Commission has commenced a fresh enlightenment programmes for the 721 pilgrims from the state now in Makkah.

The state Amirul Hajj, Mallam Zakariyahu Aliyu Abubakar (Zaak) disclosed this while giving update on the pilgrims from the state performing this year’s hajj.

According to him, the fresh enlightenment/lectures was to ensure that the pilgrims are well educated and well equipped for the proper performance of Hajj which is starting from Monday, 8th Dhul-Hijjah, 1444H/26th June, 2023.

“This is to keep the pilgrims abreast with all the necessary requirements for the Hajj which includes the dos and don’ts, what nullifies and the required compensation thereof.

“The programme is aimed at making the pilgrims to actually benefit from the huge money they paid by doing the right things, at the right time in the right places to enable them reap the inexhaustible rewards that are expected from the performance of Hajj.

“Serious activities are lined up to meet the Divinely Laid down Rules and Regulations guiding the entire exercise.

“With this programme, the pilgrims are well educated and well equipped for the proper performance of Hajj.

“It affords them the opportunity to be aware of their duties and responsibilities for being here.

”It enhances their spiritual readiness to tolerate any challenges that they may be confronted with.

“The movement which begins from Sunday, 7th Dhul-Hijjah/25th June midnight lasts till Monday morning.

“In the midnight of Monday, 8th/26th of same month, the pilgrims continue their movement to Arafat till the morning of Tuesday, 9th of Dhul-Hijjah/27th June.

“At sunset of the same day, they will move to Muzdalifah where most of them will spend a night except the elderly and the sick.

“The following morning which is Tuesday, the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, they will move to Mina enroute to Jamrat where they are expected to pelt seven stones at the first station of Iblis where he maliciously attempted to mislead Prophet Ibrahim Alayhi Sallam from slaughtering his first son in an absolute obedience to the Divine Wish of Almighty ALLAH.

“This refreshing program reminds the pilgrims of all they have been taught in theory but now are physically coming in contact with,” the Amirul Hajj explained.

He said the lectures/enlightenment programmes are being delivered in local language peculiar to each area of the state, saying that it was the turn of pilgrims from the Kogi Central senatorial district on
Wednesday, 3rd Dhul-Hijjah 1444H/21st June, 2023.

 

“Thursday, 4th Dhul-Hijjah /22nd June, 2023 will be the turn of East Senatorial District while Friday, 5th Dhul-Hijjah/23rd June will be the turn of West Senatorial District.

“This arrangements are to enable pilgrims from each Senatorial District have sound understanding of the lectures which are given in the local language peculiar to each area.

“The preachers to deliver the lectures are selected from each Senatorial District having sound knowledge of the language of each area.

“However, Lokoja Local Government Area , with diverse languages are adequately taken care of,” he said.
