Kogi – A civil right group, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), has called on Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi to establish a fuctional television station in the state.
Executive Director of the organisation, Idris Miliki made the call in a statement issued in Lokoja , noting that information dissemination is fundamental to governance.
In the statement titled YAHAYA BELLO AS GOVERNOR OF KOGI STATE AT SIX : WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE ? , Miliki also appealed to the state government to revive what he described as “comatose Radio Kogi.
“It’s regrettable that Kogi is 30 years old without its own television station, even the radio station has been off air in the last five months.
“The station is the only mouth piece of the state which calls for urgency in bringing it back on air as part of the administration’s sixth year anniversary on Jan. 27
“We call on Bello to immediately work towards bringing back the radio station in the interest of transparency and information dissemination,” he stated.
Miliki also advised the administration of Bello to complete several projects it inherited from the previous administrations.
The rights activist reminded the Kogi State House of Assembly of its constitutional mandate to make laws for the good people of Kogi and not to fail them. (vitalnews)
