The traditional ruler and District Head of Bagaji Odo, Omala Local Government, Kogi State, Chief David Akpa, has been rescued from his abductors.
Akpah was kidnapped Monday, September 1, 2025 while returning on a motorcycle to his community, from Abejukolo town, the headquarters of Omala Local Government.
The traditional ruler was rescued unhurt in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025, from the forest where was being kept by his abductors.
He was rescued by a combined team of security Agents, hunters and vigilante.
Gift Idoga, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Omala Local Government, confirmed the release of the traditional ruler in a statement on Thursday.

Hon. Edibo Mark, has finally paid off with the successful rescue of the traditional ruler.
Part of the statement reads: “The District Head of Bagaji Odo, Chief David Akpa in Omala LGA was abducted by kidnappers on 1st/9/2025 and whisked to the bush and since then the Executive Chairman of Omala LGA had swung into action.
“He had detailed joint taskforce made up of Hunters Group, Vigilantes, Police and the Nigerian Army and they have since been searching through the bush.
“The Chairman also went with them to the bush on two Occasions of their search.
“The District Head who was rescued today is currently in the house of the Executive Chairman of Omala LGA receiving treatment.”
