Minna – Police in Nigeria have confirmed the killing of two people and the kidnapping of eight others at Gulu General Hospital in Lapai Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, when assailants raided the hospital and began shooting sporadically.
According to Police Public Relations Officer DSP Wasiu Abiodun, one of the eight abducted victims was a doctor, and another was abandoned with her two-year-old child.
He stated that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ogundele Ayodeji, led a reinforcement team to the area for an on-the-spot assessment, in addition to other tactical teams and vigilante members who had been deployed.
Early, Radio Nigeria was informed by a source who requested anonymity that the assailants raided the hospital and began shooting sporadically.
According to him, they were able to operate freely and without interference from security personnel.
This is the fourth time that kidnappers have attacked various communities in the area. (Radio Nigeria)
