Be Ready To Pay More For Eggs, Poultry Farmers To Nigerians

Abuja – The Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has has told Nigerians to be ready for a steady increase in the prices of eggs across the country.

The Chairman of PAN, Federal Capital Territory Chapter, Mr Pius Aminu, said this in Abuja on Sunday.

He blamed the development on closure of most poultry farms due to the myriad of challenges facing the sector.

Currently, the price of a crate of egg ranges between N2,000 and N2,500, while the price per one ranges between N80 to N100, depending on the size and location.

Aminu also attributed the high cost of eggs to the high cost of maize and soybeans, lack of access to credit facilitie, insecurity, lack of access roads to poultry farms, among other challenges.

According to him, unless the government at all levels intervene by addressing the myriads of challenges facing poultry farmers, the prices of eggs will continue to rise. (vitalnewsngr.com)
