NDLEA Hands Over 4 Suspects To Police Over 18 Pump Action Rifles, 2,300 Live Cartridges

Lokoja – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has handed over the four suspects it recently arrested for being in possession of 18 pump action rifles and 2,300 live cartridges to the Kogi State Police Command.

The suspects were handed over on Monday at the police command headquarters in Lokoja.

The Commander of NDLEA in Kogi State, Abdulkadir Fakai Abdulahi handed over the suspects and the seized items to the Deputy Commissioner of police in charge of CID, DCP Aniefiok Wilson Akpa.

Operatives of the NDLEA had while on patrol along Okene-Abuja highway, on Saturday, September 17, 2022, intercepted a J-5 bus with 18 pump action rifles and 1,300 cartridges.

The vehicle was coming from Onitsha, Anambra State enroute Kaduna-Zaria in Kaduna State.

Two suspects ; Chukwudi Aronu, 51, and Shuaibu Gambo, 23, were arrested in connection with the items.

Also on the same day and same Okene – Abuja route, two suspects were arrested in connection with another batch of 1,000 live cartridges by NDLEA operatives.

The suspects, Anthony Agada, 37 years and Ifechukwu, 65 years, said to be the recipient were arrested while travelling with the items in a luxury bus from Onitsha to Abuja.

While handing over the suspects and the seized items to the police in Lokoja, the Kogi State NDLEA Commander, Abdulkadir Fakai Abdullahi said the fight against illicit drug was everybody’s business.

He called on other stakeholders to continue to partner and support the agency in its fight against illicit drugs.

According to Abdullahi, some of the achievements recorded by the command in the last three months include arrest of 56 suspects, seven convictions and filing of charges against 11 suspects at the Federal High Court, Lokoja.

He appreciated the state Governor Yahaya Bello for his continued support to the agency.

The Commander also lauded other stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse for their support and cooperation .

The 2,300 live cartridges recovered from the suspects and handed over to the police in Lokoja on Monday.

DCP Aniefiok Wilson Akpa while receiving the suspects and the items expressed happiness over the existing cordial relationship and cooperation between the police and the NDLEA.

He called on members of the public, including the media to always give timely information to enable security agencies in the state take appropriate actions. (vitalnewsngr.com)
