Lokoja – The Commissioner of Police Kogi State Police Command, Edward Egbuka has presented cheques of N62,622, 641.84 cheques to the families of police officers who died in line of duties .
Spokesman of police in the state , SP William Aya, confirmed this in a statement in Lokoja on Thursday.
He said that the cheque presentation was done by Egbuka on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman .
“The gesture is part of IGP’s “Group Life Assurance” aimed at improving the welfare of the families of the deceased Police Officers,” the statement said.
While presenting the cheques, Egbuka commended the Inspector-General of Police, for the prompt release of the money, saying it will reduce hardships being faced by the families of the deceased officers.
The Commissioner urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for the betterment of their families.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others thanked the IGP for the gesture.
