Abuja – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said that Monkey Pox suspected cases rose from 10 in April to 20 in May, 2022.

The 20 new cases were disclosed by the NCDC in its May summary report released on Sunday.

“This is a 100 per cent increase in case reporting as compared with April 2022, when 10 new cases were reported and is likely due to ongoing efforts to increase awareness and improve surveillance,” NCDC said in the report.

According to the report, six of the new cases were confirmed and found across Lagos, Oyo and other states.

It will be recalled that two suspected cases were earlier recorded at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH), Lagos
on May 14, 2022.
