The councillor representing Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Rosemary Aduku, has passed away while in captivity of her abductors.
Hon. Rosemary Adult was kidnapped by gunmen on October 1, 2026.
The Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government, Dr. Ameh Williams, confirmed her death in a statement on Friday.
While the official notice confirmed her passing following the kidnapping incident, details regarding the circumstances of her release or the state of her health prior to her death were not immediately disclosed in the announcement.
In the statement, Dr Williams only indicated that her remains will be interred today at 1:00 p.m. at her family compound in Ogugu Centre.
The state police command has not issued any statement on development.
The news of the councillor’s death has however, sparked, reactions within the state, as residents and colleagues call for intensified security efforts to curb the rising wave of abductions in the region.
