Popular Ibadan high chief and veteran journalist, Oloye Lekan Alabi is dead.
Alabi died in Lagos in the early hours of Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the age of 76 years.
Until his death, he was High Chief Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Chief Alabi will be buried in Ibadan tomorrow according to Islamuc rites.
Oloye Lekan Alabi was a veteran Nigerian journalist, public and relations expert who served as press secretary to four governors and cultural ambassador for Ile-Ife.
He was born in Ibadan on October 27, 1950.
Alabi started his media
career at the defunct Sketch newspaper, later moving to Western Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation/NTA Ibadan.
He also worked as the Corporate Affairs Manager and Public Relations Manager for Odu’a Investment Company Limited.
He held the prestigious traditional title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland in the Olubadan-in-Council.
He also served as the first Cultural Ambassador of the National Museum and Monuments in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
He authored several books and worked as a syndicated columnist and motivational speaker.
