The Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, has called on Nigerians and the world at large not to forget six remaining teachers and 39 pupils being held in captivity by terrorists in the Old Oyo National Park.
The Bishop also pleaded with Nigerians, parents and relations of the victims not to despair.
The Bishop stated this in a heartfelt message he issued on Sunday.
Bishop Badejo’s message is titled – A MESSAGE FOR HUMANITY: FREE OYO STATE, RESTORE OUR JOY
The message came as the victims marked 50 days in captivity.
Recalled that the victims were kidnapped on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Ahoro Esinele, Orire Local Government, Oyo State.
“Today marks 50 days since tragedy struck Oyo State, as 46 learners and teachers remain in captivity following their violent abduction.
“Fifty long, agonizing days of waiting, of tears, pleas and promises, yet the pain remains and the wait continues.
“”The Bishop’s cry is simple and urgent: hear us, set them free, bring them back.
“”As a Diocese, we join our voices in prayer, echoing the Bishop’s plea: “May God arise and give us help and rest!
“We continue to hold the affected families, the victims, and all of Oyo State in prayer, trusting that their cries will be heard and their freedom restored.
“One Humanity. One World. One Love, ” Bishop Badejo said.
