The All Progressives Congress (APC), has postponed the reception planned for Governor Agbu Kefas, of Taraba State, initially scheduled for Jalingo on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka announced the postponement in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
Morka explained that the decision was made out of respect and solidarity with the armed forces and citizens which recently lost their lives in recent terror attacks.
Morka said the postponement of the reception is as well as in honor of victims of abductions, including the students taken in Kebbi State.
The statement did not specify a new date for the event.
“We salute the courage and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line in defense of our liberty and security.
“As we mourn the death of our dear compatriots, we pray for the safe return of our innocent students taken from their families by forces of evil,” APC said.
The APC also extended heartfelt condolences to all families affected by the violence.
Morka then reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to combating insurgency and banditry and bringing perpetrators to justice.
Governor Kefas recently declared his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, citing the future welfare of Taraba people as his motivation.
He had anticipated a significant turnout for his formal reception on joining the ruling party.
Notably, on Monday, Taraba State House of Assembly Speaker John Bonzena and all PDP members of the assembly also defected to APC.
The postponement underscores the ruling party’s sensitivity to the current security challenges facing Nigeria and its resolve to prioritize national healing and safety. (vitalnewsngr.com)
