National Orthopedic Hospital Jalingo Signs MoU With Police Health Maintenance Limited

The National Orthopedic Hospital,Jalingo, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). with the Police Health Maintenance Limited (PHML) aimed at addressing urgent medical needs of serving police officers and their immediate family members.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, held at the hospital premises in Jalingo on Wednesday, the Medical Director, Prof. Chubado Tahir said the development was a testament to the strong commitment of both parties to deliver exceptional healthcare services to the people of Taraba State and beyond.

Prof.Tahir, while welcoming Dr. Yusuf Gazali, the Managing Director of PHML and his team also expressed profound appreciation to PHML for selecting the Hospital as one of it’s partner-healthcare providers.

He acknowledged the long-standing relationship and continued support of Dr. Gazali, describing him as a key contributor to the hospital’s early success through donations, encouragement, and partnership.

Prof. Tahir assured the PHML team of the hospital’s readiness, capacity and commitment to ensuring a smooth implementation of the program.

He highlighted the hospital’s impressive track record since it started surgical operations on patients in March 2025..

He explained that areas of significant impact of the specialized hospital include an average of 20 major surgeries monthly, a 100% bed occupancy capacity in most cases, a well-equipped Physiotherapy unit, Accident and Emergency services, over 2,000 cases attended to in the General Outpatient Department (GOPD).monthly.

Tahir pointed out that this historic partnership marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the National Orthopedic Hospital Jalingo and the Police Health Maintenance Limited.

He said the partnership will pave a way for the fruitful collaboration that will drive healthcare excellence in Taraba State and Nigeria at large.

According to him, the scheme basically designed to capture Police Officers and their families, is a partnership that is expected to improve trauma, accident, and bullet wound care, ultimately enhancing the health and well-being of the people.

In his response, Dr. Gazali Yusuf, Managing Director of PHML, expressed his gratitude to Prof. Tahir for his mentorship and leadership.

He delivered warm regards from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun (Board Chairman, PHML), and the entire PHML Board and Management.

Dr. Gazali disclosed that a Liaison Officer would be appointed by the HMO to support the program and ensure smooth operations, while equally requesting an office space for the officers to facilitate the partnership.

The MoU was signed by key representatives of both institutions, including Prof. Chubado Tahir, MD of National Orthopedic Hospital, Jalingo; Dr Friday Titus, Head of Clinical Services; Mr. Sale Mai Yusip, Director of Administration, Dr. Yusuf Gazali, MD PHML, Barr Suleiman Idris, Board Secretary, and CSP John Shehu Idris, O/C Police Clinic Jalingo.
