Some survivors of a kidnap incident on Lokoja–Obajana road have commended the Nigeria Army for swiftly coming to their aid by rescuing them from their abductors.
The survivors also commended operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) for their prompt action and efforts which led to their freedom.
Speaking in Lokoja on Thursday, they lauded the display of gallantry by security agents which led to their rescue and other 15 passengers kidnapped on Lokoja–Obajana road on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
The victims were travelling from Ilesha, Osun State, to Abuja when they were attacked by gun men and taken into the forest.
They were, however, rescued on Wednesday following the prompt intervention of the Nigerian Army working in close collaborations with the Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS) who pursued the abductors and ensured the safe release of all passengers.
The rescued victims have since been taken to medical facilities for examination and care.
Two of the survivors who spoke anonymously on behalf of others expressed deep appreciation to the Nigerian Army, the NFSS and the government for coming to their rescue.
They appealed to the government to empower the Forest Security with the necessary legal backing and tools so as to make operatives to be more effective.
