Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State says the introduction of CNG powered tricycles is a deliberate efforts geared towards reducing the harsh effects of the subsidy removal.
Ododo stated this on Thursday in Lokoja while receiving the first batch of the 50 CNG Tricycles allocated for Kogi State by the federal government.
He said the gesture will ease transportation across the state.
The governor praised President Bola Tinubu administration for always making the well-being of citizens a priority.
Under the first phase,19 of the 50 CNG Tricycles were donated to the National Association of Tricycles owners motorcycle owners and Riders Association (NACTOMORAS), by the Federal Government.
The donation was made
under the Presidential Initiative.
Represented by the Commissioner For Transport, Hon. Atuluku Victor Levi, Ododo said the initiative will help drastically reduce the high transport fare associated with the fuel subsidy removal in the State.
While noting that the CNG Tricycles will promote the use of cleaner and eco friendly energy in the state, he added that it is also a job creation opportunity for teeming young Nigerian’s.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Kogi State NACTOMORAS Chairman, Hon Amos Onuche Isah, described the first batch of the CNG Tricycles as a turning point in the transportation sector of the state.
He noted that the presidential initiative will help reduce transportation cost, create jobs and also improve the livelihood of thousands of families who depend on commercial Tricycles and motorcycle operators for their daily sustenance.
Highlights of the occasion was the official commissioning of the CNG Tricycles and their formal handing over to the state Chairman of NACTOMORAS.
