Twelve people died and five others seriously injured in a lone accident which occured in the early hours of Friday in Kano.The accident happened around 2:40 a.m. at Samawa Village in Garun Malam Local Government Area along the Zaria–Kano highway.
The state FRSC Sector Commander, Muhammed Bature, confirmed the accident.
Bature said the crash involved a DAF CF95 truck, registered KMC 931 ZE, which was carrying goods.
A total of 19 people were affected: 12 died, five were injured, and two escaped unharmed,” he said.
Bature explained that the accident occurred when the trailer lost control after its cab detached from the body due to a mechanical failure in the cab hook.
The deceased were taken to Nassarawa Hospital, while the injured received treatment at Kura General Hospital.
The FRSC urged drivers to avoid speeding, reckless driving, and other dangerous practices that could put lives and property at risk.
