Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu,on Friday empowered 500 women selected from the 21 local government areas of Kogi State with essential business tools.
The 500 women beneficiaries were empowered with essential business tools such as deep-chest freezers, maxi gas cookers with ovens, power generators and industrial grinding machines among others.
The items were given to them as a form of support to enable them to expand their businesses.

Speaking at the event in Lokoja, Senator Tinubu highlighted the importance of supporting women to enable them to contribute to nation-building.
Senator Tinubu who was represented at the event by the wife of the Kogi State Governor and the state coordinator, Renewed Hope Initiative, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo said the empowerment is an integral part of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
She said this is to underscore the vital role women play in bolstering the nation’s economic prosperity.
The First Lady maintained that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which she said prioritizes inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development, especially for women.
Mrs. Tinubu disclosed that 18,500 women selected across the six geopolitical zones of the country would benefit from the programme, starting with states in the North Central Zone.
The First Lady explained that : “Women empowerment is central to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goals 5 and 8, which focus on gender equality and economic growth.”

The empowerment, is being championed by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The First Lady charged the recipients to utilize the items effectively to achieve self-reliance and contribute to the nation’s economic development.
