NANS Passes Vote Of Confidence In FUOYE VC, Prof Fasina

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South West Zone D, has passed a vote of confidence in the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina.

The students group also applauded his leadership style which it said has lifted the university to greater heights.

According to a news report posted on FUOYE’s website, the vote of confidence was passed during the inauguration of the newly elected NAN executives for Southwest Zone D held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Faculty of Art Hall of the University.

NANS extolled FUOYE Vice Chancellor for the giant strides recorded in the University in the last four years of his administration.

Speaking on behalf of the students body, the association’s Senate President, Akinteye Babatunde, highlighted the achievements of Fasina, describing him as an architect of modern FUOYE.

He said : “I am here to say a little about the Vice- Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina.

“He deserves commendation and not condemnation.

“Professor Fasina has completed over 150 projects on campus, and he’s still doing more.

“He has been able to boost the IGR of the University, part-time, Business School, and the rest are part of the project of Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina.

“The School has about 50 programmes, including Artificial Intelligence (AI). Professor Fasina has won so many grants for the university.

“He offered scholarships to indigent students, and his achievements have surpassed other universities established same year.

“As students, we are all proud of Professor Fasina. He’s the best VC so far in Nigeria.

“We students will continue to support you; we will oppress whoever oppresses you.”

In a motion moved by Comrade Temitayo, he passed a vote of confidence in the Vice- Chancellor for his work in transforming the university, making it the best university among its peers established the same year.

In a unanimous voice by all Union Presidents in South West the Vote of Confidence in Prof. Fasina was due to his leadership quality.

The Union President added that he had catapulted FUOYE to greater academic excellence, including students’ welfare as Fasina’s administration’s major focus.

According to them, “NANS South West Zone D has unanimously applauded the pragmatic (leader) and father of students, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for his leadership dexterity in taking FUOYE to a greater height with academic excellence and students’ welfare being his major focus.

Speaking, the Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Students Engagement, Comrade Asefon Sunday appreciated the South West comrades for their support and dedication to student unionism and most importantly to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The SSA urged the stakeholders of NANS to remain resolute in their resolve to be patriotic citizens while assuring them of a greater nation under President Tinubu.

Asefon said: “President Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu means well for Nigerians, and I want you to key into his policy to enable him achieve greatness for us.”

Reacting, Professor Fasina appreciated the students body for its support and for the award given to him.

He reiterated his commitment to the students, especially NANS Zone D.

“I will continue to support you,” the VC added.

Highlights of the event were the presentation of the award of excellence to FUOYE VC for his contribution to the education sector in Nigeria. (vitalnewsngr.com)
