Why I Will Never Stop Celebrating Yahaya Bello – VP Shettima
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid a glowing tribute to the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his exemplary leadership qualities.

Shettima singled out the former governor for praise and commendatio while speaking in Lokoja as the Special Guest of honour during an event put together to mark the one year in office of the administration of the incumbent state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Vice President Shettima described Bello as a good example of a patriotic Nigerian, who build bridges irrespective of tribe and religion.

The Vice President who represented President Bola Tinubu at the occasion particularly commended former Governor Bello for his ability to bring together, the various ethnic groups in Kogi State during his tenure.

He urged other well meaning Nigerians to emulate his character of working to unite the various shades of people in the country.

“You’re a kaleidoscope of colours, different ethnicities, different religions.

“But you were able to fuse into one. And this is why I’ve never stopped celebrating Yahaya Bello.

“You can demonise him, you can call him whatever name you want. But for maintaining the peace in Kogi, he deserves special commendation.

“And on top of that, for recognising that power is the most ephemeral of Allah’s gift to humanity.

“For not seeing Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as his errand boy, for respecting him, for valuing him, for stepping aside. That’s a mighty act of courage, very few leaders…

“If you see a predecessor and his successor quarrelling, believe me, 70 per cent of the blame will go to the predecessor.

“We have made it work in Borno. It is working in Kogi and I believe it will work in Edo,”the Vice President said.

Shettima then urged Nigerians to remain calm, assuming them that the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is working to build a united Nigeria, where boundaries and limitations will be overcome. (vitalnewsngr.com)
