The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Hon Enemona Anyebe as its new Chairman in Kogi State .
Also elected is a former Chairman of Okene Local Government, Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, who emerged as the new Deputy Chairman of PDP in the state while Mr Sunday Olufemi Ibrahim, emerged as the new state Secretary.
Anyebe, Karaku and Ibrahim were elected during the state congress of the PDP held in Lokoja on Saturday.
Accredited delegates numbering 2,898 from the 21 local government areas of the state participated in the congress.
The congress was supervised by officials from the state INEC office in Lokoja.
The Chairman of the Congress electoral committee, Senator Istifanus Gyang announced that Anyebe polled 1,632 votes to emerge chairman of the party.
Gyang announced that other candidates, Sanni Gambo, polled 88 votes, while David Ogwu and Anthony Amengo, scored 56 votes and 74 votes respectively.
A former Chairman of Okene Local Government, Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, emerged as the new Deputy Chairman of PDP in the state while Mr Sunday Olufemi Ibrahim, emerged as the new state Secretary.
Speaking further, Gyang congratulated the newly elected members of the state executive committee .
Senator Gyang commended the peaceful conduct of the elections, which he said were held in accordance with party rules.
He called on the newly elected state executives of the party to work hard to unite all members and ensure the party reclaim the state in 2027.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Anyebe, thanked all the delegates for reposing their confidence in him and other elected members of the SEC.
He promised to lead the party to victory in future elections.
Anyebe pledged to unite all members of PDP in Kogi State and make the party attractive to attract new members.
He commended leaders of the party who have laboured so hard to keep PDP alive since 1998, promising to live up to their expectations.
Other executives elected are ; Abdulkadir Ibrahim, Organizing Secretary; Senibi Segun, Legal Adviser; Paul Ukwenya, Financial Secretary; Umoru Tijani Aruwa, Publicity Secretary; Audu Siyaka Uhanaye (Hacor), Treasurer; Jude Sulle, Auditor; Mrs Esther Soje, Women Leader; Yunusa Adazaki, Youth Leader; Hon Igagwu Haruna, State Vice Chairman (East); Hon Anthony Akuvada, State Vice Chairman (Central) and Ibrahim Taiwo, State Vice Chairman (West).
