Lagos – Security operatives in the early hours of Monday, March 28 foiled an attempted attack on Dangote Refinery in Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos.
A statement issued by the Lagos State Police Command which confirmed this said the armed hoodlums numbering about twenty gained access to the refinery through the lagoon side.
It said that they were repelled while attempting to cart away already-installed armored cables in the refinery.
“The hoodlums on sighting security operatives fled the scene. One of the hoodlums was hit in the ensuing gunfire and died on the way to the hospital.
” Investigation has commenced with a view to arresting the fleeing attackers,” the statement signed by the command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said.
Hundeyin said security in and around the refinery has been fortified on the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi. (vitalnews)
