The over 200 intending pilgrims from Kwara State who have been stranded at Ilorin International Airport since Thursday have been finally airlifted to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj.
The pilgrims who were the last batch from Ilorin Zone were airlifted on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at exactly 3:06 am local time.
The airlifting was initially scheduled for Thursday, June 6th, 2024, was delayed due to technical fault developed by the aircraft earmarked for the exercise.
The development forced the intending pilgrims and their relations to stage a peaceful protest on Friday.
Pilgrims from Ondo and Ekiti States were also airlifted to Saudi Arabia from the zone.
A total of 3,102 intending pilgrims travelled from the zone for the hajj exercise. (vitalnewsngr.com)
