Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State and other major towns in the state have been plunged into darkness by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
The state started experiencing blackout since about 11 am of Monday, February 5.
As a result, business and activities have been badly affected while homes are battling with intense heat, especially in the night.
Water supply has also been badly affected by the
prolonged blackout.
However, the AEDC , gave a momentary relief when they restored power supply for about two hours today, Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
The AEDC regional office in Lokoja in an explanation this afternoon blame the prolonged blackout on grid collapse occasioned by shortage of gas.
The office in a statement said : “We wish to inform you that the prolonged outage was as a result of Gas Shortage which caused the Grid collapse recently.
“Presently the allocation to Kogi Region is very small and cannot carry large feeders.
“All the Stakeholders in the Energy industry are trying to find solution to the Generation problem.
“Please bear with us. Supply will be restored as soon as the problem is rectified.” (vitalnewsngr.com)
