National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has attributed the peaceful conduct of the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State to the acceptability of the party’s candidate, Usman Ododo.

Akande, who is also a former governor of Osun State, stated this on Thursday while receiving the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and the state Governor-Elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, at his Abuja residence.

Akande, commended Bello for overseeing the election, widely adjudged to be peaceful, free and fair, saying the outcome of the election was a testament of Bello’s good performance in office.

The APC National Leader urged the governor-elect to stay true to his campaign promises.

He further charged Ododo to remain committed to the APC, on which platform he contested and won the election.

He said the governor – elect wil take off from where he is stopping to ensure that the state remain on the track of growth and development.

Bello also emphasised on Ododo’s commitment to delivering on his electoral promises.

The governor acknowledged the significant roles played by Baba Akande before, during, and after the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, where Ododo emerged as governor-elect.

He explained that the election was peaceful, free and fair, saying that both local and foreign observers attested to these.

Belli said Ododo is coming into office having acquired wide experience as a former Auditor-General of Local Government in the state , saying that has given him enough insights into the grassroots’ needs.

He said : “Your Excellency, remember when we were looking for ticket for our candidate for the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, we came to you for your wise counsel and support. You gave everything to us.

“We have won that election, which is adjudged to be the most peaceful, freest and fairest election in recent times by both foreign and local observers.

Ododo, in his remarks expressed gratitude to Chief Akande for his support and prayed for long life for the respected elder statesman.
