Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has expressed shock at what he called the ‘brutal’ killing of security agents on patrol in Umuezeala Onwere, in the Ehime Mbano local government area of the state.
Assailants on Tuesday ambushed the security agents, resulting in their deaths, and subsequently set their patrol vehicles on fire.
The yet to be identified gunmen had during the attack on security agents killed eight soldiers and policemen.
The military is yet to speak on the incident
Accompanied by the state Commissioner of Police, Chief Uzodimma visited the attack site.
He offered prayers for the families of the deceased and assured them that the government would thoroughly investigate the matter.
The governor appealed to the public, urging them to provide valuable information that could lead to the apprehension of the criminals.
