The Provost of the Federal College of Education, Okene, Dr Umar Hassan, said the recent signing into law of the new enabling Act, which empowered all Federal Colleges of Education in the country to award diploma and degree is good for the educational development of Nigeria .
Hassan, who stated this during an interactive meeting between him and the College Management, said this will create more opportunities for admission seekers.
Jibril Abdulrahaman, Director of Information, of the College, in a statement said the Provost noted that with the development, “wider opportunities have been created for admission seekers to apply directly to the College for degree Programme”
Hassan also noted that it would put to an end, ” issues of affiliations with Universities and by extension, enhancing the carrying capacity of the College.”
He, however , stated that, the process can only commence after the Federal Ministry of Education has put in place an implementation committee, that would spell out the process of implementing the Act.
It would be recalled that the College has been on affiliation with University of Ibadan, for full time regular programmes and Ekiti State University, for sandwich Programmes.
