Ilorin – The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi was on Thursday quizzed by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged fraud of N4billion.
Fayemi who was quizzed at the Ilorin, Kwara State zonal office of the EFCC was said to have misappropriated the N4 billion during his tenure as the governor of the state.
Fayemi, who was also a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development during the first tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s was still undergoing interrogation at about 4:15pm.
The former governor’s presence at the EFCC’s office was in response to an earlier invitation extended to him by the anti-graft agency .
Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed Fayemi’s presence at the commission’s Ilorin office but refused to give details.
Another source close to the EFCC said that Fayemi was Ilorin zonal office ” basically to answer some questions that bordered on alleged fraud of N4 billion belonging to Ekiti State.
“He would likely be released tonight or tomorrow morning after explanations,” the detective said.”
