Isiguzo said the National body of NUJ under his Leadership, aligned itself with the submission of the Kogi NUJ Council affirming that Gov. Bello has done well.

”The Reference Hospital Okene, has become a reference point in the delivery of democracy dividends to the people of Kogi.

”We have governors in our country who instead of bringing such hospital to their state, would rather go and established such facility in other countries.

”But for the governor of Kogi, he felt the need to address the healthcare issue facing the people, who have reposed their confidence in him, and that is why he brought such reference hospital that has become a reference point,” Isiguzo said.

He also commended the governor for the construction of the first overhead bridge in the history of the state.

”Democracy is about making impact on the living standard of the people, any democracy that does not impact positively on the people is not democracy.

”Indeed we can see government and administration that is peoples centre in Kogi, and that is what democracy is all about,” he said.

The NUJ president also noted that the choice and decision Nigerians made in 2023 elections, would actually define substantially the future of the country and respective States

He applauded President Muhammadu Buhari in his national broadcast, for advising Nigerians to come out in their numbers and elect leaders of their choice.

The NUJ boss further eulogised the President for reassuring the people of adequate security across the 774 LGAs in Nigeria.

”That is the word of somebody who wants to bequeath a united, peaceful nation. It is a posture of a statesman”.

Isiguzo urged journalists to discharge their responsibility without fear or favour, without dancing to the whims and caprices of political actors.

”This is the year that history would record us as journalists for good or bad.

”Journalists are strategic stakeholders if we must deliver, free, fair, credible and transparent elections in Nigeria.

He, therefore enjoined journalists to ensure that their reportage l promote peace building and enthrone peace and unity in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Governor thanked the Kogi NUJ for the Symposium, and assured the council of a continuous media partnership with the state government.

”So far so good, we came, we saw and we are conquering,” Bello said.

Earlier, the Kogi NUJ Chairman, Comr Adeiza Momohjimoh, commended the governor for his remarkable achievements in all sectors of the economy in his seven years’ in office.

He urged the incoming administrations in the state irrespective of the party or affiliation to sustain and build on the governor’s achievements, saying history would never forget him.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a panel discussion was conducted for Commissioners and Heads of Institutions in the states, who elaborated the governor’s different sectors especially in health, education and inclusiveness. (NAN/vitalnewsngr.com)
