Minna – Seven people have lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident which occurred along Minna -Suleja road in Niger State.
Eight other persons were also seriously wounded in the lone accident which happened at Farin-Doki village near Kwakuti town, Paikoro Local Government.
The accident was said to have occurred when the driver of a Toyota Hiace passenger bus with registration number Kano KMC 297 ZU lost control while going to Lagos from Katsina.
The vehicle was said to have summersaulted and in the process plunged into a ditch, killing the driver , simply identified as Ilyasu Bala and six others on the spot.
Among the dead are four other male adults, a woman and a three year-old female child.
The accident occurred in the evening of Monday, March 7.
Confirming the accident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said, the lone accident occured at about 7.10pm at Farin-Doki village.
“The vehicle was coming from Katsina heading to Lagos.
“The driver lost control of the vehicle at a point around Farin-Doki village due to a mechanical fault developed by the vehicle.
“Unfortunately, the bus summersaulted while the driver and six others died on the spot, eight other passengers sustained various degree of injuries,” he said.
Abiodun said that the police patrol team attached to Paiko Division quickly moved to the scene and rushed the injured victims to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
According to him, the corpses were deposited at the morgue of IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna. (vitalnews)
