Kano – The Kano State Fire Service says 23 persons were burnt to death in 83 fire incidents that occurred in the state in April, 2023.
The service disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano on Tuesdsy.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Service, Mr Saminu Abdullahi, signed the statement.
He said the fire service saved 64 lives and property worth N73 million in 83 fire incidents recorded during the period the month of April.
Abdullahi said 23 people lost their lives while properties worth N29 million were destroyed by fire during the period under review.
“The service responded to 45 distress calls and nine false alarms from residents of the state,” he said.
The spokesman advised the general public to handle fire with care to avoid loss of lives and property especially during this period.
In March, 2022, 17 people were burnt to death and properties worth N51 million destroyed in fire incidents in Kano.
