22yr-old Student Of Arabic School Commits Suicide In Ilorin

A 22-year-old student of a popular Arabic school, Alfa Musa, has committed suicide in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

Musa, was said to be a student of Sheikh Kamaldeen Arabic School, until his death.

He was found hanging in his room at Dagbenu compound in Ogidi area of Ilorin on December 7, 2023.

Reports said one of his friends paid a visit to his residence on the day of the incident only to meet the door to his room firmly locked.

“After repeated knocks on the door, there was no response, yet he was in the room, hence the door was forced open and the deceased was found hanging,” a source said.

The state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, confirmed the development.

She said that investigation has commenced into the incident.

According to the police spokesperson, the deceased student left a suicide note where he expressed love for his parents.

Alfa Musa in the suicide note said : “to my mum and dad, I am sorry, I did this because God did not answer my prayers, I will rather die than commit sin, please, forgive me, I love you, bury me at home.”

A source said an  empty paint container used by Alfa Musa to hang himself was found in his room.

One of his neighbours described the deceased who he said hailed from Osun State as “comfortable and a devout Muslim. ”

It was gathered that when the incident occurred the deceased’s father was contacted, he directed that late Musa be buried in Ilorin as against his wish that he buried at home as indicated in the suicide note he left behind.
